Phi Phi
Welcome to the Phi Phi islands, just a short ferry ride from the mainland, Phi Phi's towering rock formations never fail to take your breath away. With Phi Phi fast recovering from the aftermath of the December 2004 tsunami new development means you now have a limitless options on what to do, where to stay and what to eat!
Phi Phi was partially destroyed as a result of the tsunami. Four years on and the island is recovering well. The scenery is still just as stunning as before. Rebuilding efforts are constantly underway, but this won’t interrupt your stay here. Everyone is keen to move on from this event, and tourism is encouraged.
Visitors are warmly greeted and just by being here, you are helping no end. If you would like to find out more information about what happened please refer to www.hiphiphi.com
How to get here
There are several ferryboats that operate daily return service to the Phi Phi Islands. The boats are quite large and there is not much difference in terms of quality. Don't expect luxury though they are fairly basic! The journey can take between 1.5 - 2 hours depending on weather conditions.
Ferry times are:
9:00am and 14:30pm from Phuket Rassada pier
10:00am and 15:30pm from Krabi Pier
Normally there are no problems in terms of availability, but we advise that during the months of December and January and on public holidays, you should be at the pier 20 minutes before departure.
